On September 16, 2014, CMB Export, LLC was notified that CMB Infrastructure Investment Group VII, LP and the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System would be awarded the Council of Development Finance Agencies (CDFA)Excellence Award. The CDFA announced four California Financing Roundtable Excellence Award winners. Toby Rittner, CDFA President and CEO, stated "The work of our award winners is cutting-edge, innovative, and an example of best practices in our industry."
CMB's Senior Vice President, Kraig A. Schwigen, and CMB's Economist, Noreen Hogan, attended the CDFA awards ceremony to accept the award. The awards ceremony was part of the 2014 CDFA California Financing Roundtable Conference held on October 9th in Long Beach, California. Mr. Schwigen also served as a speaker in this conference in a block of instruction titled "Making the Most of EB-5 in California.
The CDFA award is not the first time the Ivanpah project has received recognition. In August of this year, 'Power Magazine' named Ivanpah "Plant of the Year" which is the first time a renewable energy project has won this award. The Ivanpah Solar Electric Plant has been described as the Hoover Dam of the solar industry. This comparison extends even further as Bechtel Corporation helped build the Hoover Dam and they led the construction of Ivanpah.
