Road projects planned in Bucks, Montgomery counties this week
Work on the Scudder Falls Bridge project, I-95 and the Pennsylvania turnpike are planned to start or continue throughout the week in Bucks and Montgomery counties.
Road construction projects will affect travel around Bucks County this week.
Be on the look out for the following projects:
Scudder Falls Bridge Project
Intermittent single-lane travel on I-95 Northbound from the Route 332/Newtown-Yardley interchange (Exit 49) to the Scudder Falls Bridge is expected overnight from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday. Similar overnight work and travel conditions in the same area on I-95 Southbound is planned between 8 p.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Woodside Road, west of Taylorsville Road to around Clearview Drive, will be open to eastbound traffic only until approximately May 31 due to the Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement project. Westbound traffic detours through Mt. Eyre Road to the north or Dolington Road to the south.
Taylorsville Road near I-95 will also experience single-lane closures from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
State Route 32 (River Road) will use flagging to control traffic during single-lane closures between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Lower Bucks County
I-95 motorists will encounter single and double lane closures next week in both directions between the Academy Road and Route 332 (Newtown Yardley) interchanges for bridge deck repair, patching and paving operations as part of a project to repair and resurface 13 miles of I-95 in Bensalem, Bristol, Middletown and Lower Makefield townships.
The work schedule is:
Monday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., double lane closures will be in place on northbound I-95 between the Route 132/Street Road and Route 413/Bristol interchanges;
Monday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., a single right lane closure will be in place on northbound I-95 between the Route 413/Bristol and Route 332/Newtown Yardley interchanges; and
Monday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., double lane closures will be in place on northbound I-95 from just north of the Academy Road Interchange to the Route 132/Street Road interchange.
In addition to the overnight lane closures, a center lane closure will remain in place through late May on northbound I-95 between Route 132/Street Road and the Neshaminy Creek Bridge.
Northbound U.S. 1 will remain reduced to one lane at the U.S. 13 interchange in Bucks County through Tuesday for construction activities related to a project to enhance travel and safety on northbound U.S. 1 through the interchange with U.S. 13/Bristol Pike and Route 32 in Falls, Middletown and Lower Makefield.
During construction, the exit to northbound Route 32/Morrisville will remain open to traffic. U.S. 13 motorists entering northbound U.S. 1 at the interchange must continue onto U.S. 1.
Then from 7 p.m. on Tuesday through 5 a.m. the next morning, the contractor will set barriers for a new traffic pattern which will allow for two through lanes on northbound U.S. 1. Under this new pattern, the exit to northbound Route 32 (Morrisville) will remain open to traffic. U.S. 13 motorists entering northbound U.S. 1 at the interchange must continue onto U.S. 1.
PennDOT also announced that southbound U.S. 1 is scheduled to close at the Oxford Valley Road Interchange in Falls, Lower Makefield and Middletown on Tuesday, May 22, and Wednesday, May 23, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., for bridge beam painting on the structure carrying Oxford Valley Road over U.S. 1. This work follows repairs done in March to a beam that was damaged after it was struck by an oversized vehicle late last year.
During construction, southbound U.S. 1 motorists will be directed to exit at Oxford Valley Road and then re-enter the highway at the entrance ramp at the interchange.
Upper Bucks County
State Route 563 (Ridge Road) will be closed on weekdays between Park Avenue and state Route 313 in East Rockhill beginning May 30 to June 15 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. for base repairs. Vehicles will be detoured over Bethlehem Pike, state Route 309 and Route 313.
Pennsylvania Turnpike
The Delaware Valley Interchange from state Route 13, mile marker 358 in Bucks County, will close between midnight and 4 a.m. on May 21 for construction. Single-lane closures and traffic jams are anticipated in the hours leading up to the closure on May 20. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission suggests drivers take Route 13 south to state Route 132 (Street Road) and enter the turnpike at the Bensalem interchange.
Montgomery County
Overnight lane restrictions on state Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike) between North Wales Road the Bucks County Line in Montgomery and Hatfield townships will be in effect on May 24 between 7 p.m to 5 a.m. for paving work.
All work is weather dependent and can include lane restrictions and traffic flagging.
