Nicole Meyer Allegedly Used Brother Jared Kushner To Promote Family Business
Several Chinese businessmen were quick to make an appearance this weekend at a luxurious hotel to discourse about investing $500,000 in the Kushner Companies’ New Jersey real estate project that may grant them lawful permanent residence in the United States.
However, attendees were taken aback after the Kushners themselves did not show up at the conference they held to discourse about EB-5 visa program they promised to grant Chinese investors if they put money into the Kushner Companies’ New Jersey real estate project.
The Kushners wanted to grant Chinese investors EB-5
Nicole Meyer, the sister of the presidential adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner, visited China earlier this month, in quest of $150 million from Chinese investors for Kushner Companies’ One Journal Square. The Kushners attempted to promote their family business through the EB-5, which is an immigrant investor program designed in 1990 to entice foreign investment and create jobs in the United States. In fact, if the investors comply with the conditions, they will be granted the EB-5, an employment-based visa granted to applicants.
However, the offer Chinese investors were promised yo grant provoked speculations over potential interest in using her brother’s position and name to attract investors and promote family business all over the world through law.
Meyer told investors the Jersey City development “means a lot to me and my entire family,” and that her brother served as chief executive of Kushner Companies before leaving the company to work in the White House, the New York Times reported.
The company makes things clear
After the controversies provoked, the Kushner Companies released a statement saying that Meyer pointed out to her brother’s connection to the White House only to ensure that he is no longer serving the company and is not related to the New Jersy Project by any means.
“Kushner Companies apologises if that mention of her brother was in any way interpreted as an attempt to lure investors,” the statement said.
Jared Kushner’s lawyer said he does not take part in the company operations, derived himself out of the project.
