Norris McLaughlin & Marcus Welcomes New Immigration Attorneys
The Bridgewater, New Jersey, based law firm Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., is pleased to welcome Raymond G. Lahoud as a Member and Chair of its Immigration Law Practice, and William C. Menard as an Associate in the Immigration Law Practice Group. They, along with their team, join Norris McLaughlin & Marcus from Baurkot & Baurkot, a leading immigration law and deportation defense law firm.
Lahoud primarily focuses his practice on immigration law and deportation defense for individuals and corporations in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. He works in the field of Immigration Waivers, such as the Visa Waiver Program, National Interest Waivers, Hardship Waivers, and J Waivers, but his practice focuses greatly on Deportation Defense at the Immigration Court, Board of Immigration Appeals, and Circuit Court levels. Lahoud has defended individuals against deportation across the United States. Often, his Deportation practice takes him into state and federal appellate courts, where he seeks post-conviction relief for the underlying crime that led to the commencement of the deportation. On the other hand, he has represented individuals who overstayed their visas or entered the United States without inspection. Lahoud also has a long history of political and business management expertise.
Lahoud has received numerous accolades for his pro bono efforts, as well as his achievements in the area of immigration law. He has been awarded the Empire State Pro Bono Counsel Award since 2012, has been selected as Lead Counsel, and has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star, ranked as a Top Rated Immigration Attorney in the New York Metro Area.
Lahoud earned his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Lehigh University, where he served as the Editor of The Lehigh Review, earned Deans List, was named a President’s Scholar, was inducted into Phi Beta Delta, and received, among other awards, the Williams Award, Treen Scholarship, and Littner Scholarship, and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
In law school, Lahoud earned Deans List, several CALI awards in many different legal courses, and a position on the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal. He was actively involved in several programs and other organizations such as the Barristers’ Counsel, ABA Law Student Division, ACLU at GULC, Catholic Student Association, and the Innocence Project, as well as worked for the Honorable Joanne Seybert, Federal District Court Judge for the Eastern District of New York.
Menard is a leading immigration law and deportation defense attorney. He has represented both individual and corporate clients in all facets of immigration law and has appeared on behalf of clients in deportation proceedings before immigration courts throughout the country, including in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. He has represented numerous clients before both the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services and Board of Immigration Appeals and conducted oral arguments before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
Menard has completed and advised on a host of permanent residence visas, as well as a wide range of temporary visas, represents clients at all stages of proceedings before the immigration court, including and obtaining bail for detained individuals and applying for relief from deportation, as well as petitions and applications before the Departments of State and Homeland Security. He has represented clients from six continents spanning the entire globe, including: Mexico, Canada, and El Salvador; Brazil, Colombia, and Argentina; France, Germany, and the United Kingdom; Senegal, Egypt, and Ghana; China, Japan, and the Philippines; and Australia.
Menard is also active in his community on immigration matters, helping to write a town ordinance protecting immigrants from discrimination, and has also advised education professionals on how to help ensure that immigrant students feel safe in school.
Prior to that, in law school, Menard was selected to join his school’s prestigious Moot Court Honor Society. As a part of Moot Court, he earned the Joseph T. Tinnelly Best Brief Award for his year, and was twice chosen to argue in the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition, the largest and most respected moot court competition in the world. While an undergraduate student, Menard worked for the Claremont Courier, a Los Angeles-area newspaper, where he covered numerous areas as a journalist, including U.S. Congressional campaigns, immigration in Southern California, healthcare and abortion rights, and more. He also interned for a New York labor and employment law firm and worked as a public relations representative for the Harlem Children’s Society, promoting a New York-based organization that helped bright children from underprivileged backgrounds and communities pursue college degrees and careers in math and science.
