Greenberg Traurig Attorneys Recognized as Law360 2016 MVPs

EB-5 Visa, EB5 Visa, EB-5 Investment

Four attorneys from global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP were recognized as Law360 2016 MVPs. In addition, Greenberg Traurig was recognized as one of only seven firms to have four attorneys on the elite list.

Lori G. Cohen was recognized as an MVP under the Trials category. Cohen is nationally recognized for her extraordinary trial record of 57 defense verdicts, virtually unmatched by any other attorney who handles high-stakes products liability trials. Standing out in her long list of victories is a 2016 complete defense verdict on behalf of client C.R. Bard in a trial requesting $28 million in damages from a woman alleging injuries cause by a Bard pelvic mesh device. Cohen is chair of the firm's Pharmaceutical, Medical Device & Health Care Litigation Practice; chair of the Trial Practice; and co-chair of the firm's Atlanta Litigation Practice.

Laura Foote Reiff, recognized as an Immigration MVP, is a leading technical lobbyist and practitioner for the business community. Reiff has founded and co-chairs two business coalitions on immigration reform. The first, the Essential Worker Immigration Coalition (EWIC), is a broad-based coalition of national businesses and trade associations that support immigration reform and are concerned with the shortage of both semi-skilled and unskilled ("essential worker") labor. EWIC supports policies that facilitate the employment of essential workers by U.S. companies that are unable to find American workers. The second, the EB-5 Investment Coalition (EB-5IC), is a bipartisan organization of businesses, industry leaders, and trade associations mobilizing around the shared mission of putting Americans to work by reauthorizing and strengthening the critical EB-5 Regional Center Program. Reiff is also the Chair of the Board of Directors for the National Immigration Forum, an organization dedicated to finding solutions to immigration policy issues. Reiff is the firm's Northern Virginia co-managing shareholder; co-chair of the Business Immigration & Compliance Practice; and co-chair of the firm's Global Human Capital Solutions.

Paul M. Seby was recognized as an Environmental MVP. Notably, in the last year, Seby has been instrumental in in obtaining federal court injunctions against three of the most significant environmental and energy-related federal agency rule makings. Specifically, Seby represents the State of North Dakota, serving as the state's Special Assistant Attorney General. In each case, federal courts (including the U.S. Supreme Court) found Seby's advocacy demonstrated irreparable harm to the state's sovereign interests and a substantial likelihood of success in demonstrating that the agencies acted outside their legal authority to warrant preservation of the status quo.

Rick L. Shackelford was selected as a Food & Beverage MVP. Shackelford is hired for what may be the most significant litigation faced by companies in the food and beverage sector, when their products and reputation are at risk. Recognized for defending food and beverage clients against false advertising accusations from competitors and consumers alike, he has obtained results throughout the country that affect not just his clients but entire industries. Shackelford is co-lead of the firm's Food & Beverage Group and co-chair of the firm's Class Action Litigation Group, as well as well as co-chair of the Los Angeles Litigation Practice.

According to Law360, the publication selected 177 attorneys from more than 1,000 submissions. Those selected as 2016 MVPs have "distinguished themselves from their peers by securing hard-earned successes in high stakes litigation, complex global matters and record breaking deals."
