GUAM, “America in Asia”
Celebrates New Year With Asian Neighbors
2016 Arrives 15 Hours Before NY, 18 Hours Ahead of Los Angeles
2016 has arrived in Guam USA, America in Asia.
The clock struck midnight January 1, 2016 in Guam just one hour after Sydney; one hour ahead of Tokyo and Seoul, and two hours before Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Taipei.
To the delight of locals and visitors alike, midnight fireworks lit up the skies over the island’s famous Tumon Bay. While in New York, Wall Street had yet to open for its final trading day of 2015 and on the west coast of North America many people were still soundly asleep in last year.
For years Guam has been a popular year-round destination for savvy Asian travelers. Residents of Japan, Korea, China and other nearby countries can fly to Guam in a few hours or so. There’s no traveling half way around the world and no jet lag to celebrate New Year’s Eve or any other holiday in “America in Asia.”
Now the island’s geographic proximity to Asia is creating similar appeal among developers and investors in the EB5 marketplace.
In 2015 the government of Guam announced tax and other incentives to encourage the construction of more accommodations to meet the demands of the island’s growing visitor industry. The steady, sustained growth in tourism is also factoring in the construction of new shopping venues, restaurants, housing, and other projects.
Developers have responded to the government’s incentive program, and in 2016 immigrant investors may have the opportunity to participate in Guam’s growth through the EB5 Regional Center program. Just like tourists who want to make the most of their time and money, EB5 investors will find Guam opportunities attractive because they are close by, easy to verify and quantify.
Locally owned Guam Strategic Development Regional Center, widely known as Guam EB5, seeks out business plans that will satisfy job creation requirements for immigrant investor visas while helping preserve and protect the unique cultural identity and natural beauty that is fueling economic growth in Guam.
Ours is a community-based approach to smart growth that benefits developers, investors, and the island we call home. Learn more by clicking here www.guameb5.com
