VT Governor's Office: Situation in Northeast Kingdom

2016/04/13 10:38pm

The Vermont governor's office, along with three other state officials will hold a news briefing Thursday.

According to the Burlington Free Press, it has to do with a quote "investigation" at Q Burke.

Local 22 & Local 44 reached out to Peter Shumlin's office about this Wednesday night.... a spokesperson responded, but only called it a coordinated effort, in the Northeast Kingdom.  They are unable to comment until relevant information is made public.

We had a reporter, go to the resort Wednesday.  It was quiet, and the doors were locked.

Now, it’s been two years since the groundbreaking at Q Burke.

As we've reported, the construction company which built the hotel, Peak CM, still has legal ownership over the property.

It's still working with the state to determine how it will get paid.

The issue seems to be multiple funding sources, since it's an EB 5 project.

EB 5 is a program where people from foreign countries invest in a project, in exchange for a green card to the U.S.

Again, the governor expects more information to be released tomorrow, he will be joined by Attorney General Bill Sorrell, Commerce & Community Development Secretary Patricia Moulton, and Dept. of Financial Regulation Commissioner Susan Donegan.

Vermont’s U.S. attorney also had no comment Wednesday night.
