Dr. Gregory Finkelson, President of American Corporate Services, Inc., announces that he will be traveling to China in September to follow-up on contacts established during the Silicon Valley Mayors’ China Trip in May of this year.
During his 12-day visit, Dr. Finkelson will be meeting with investors, and CEOs of prosperous, high tech companies in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and other cities yet to be announced. In addition, his schedule includes meetings with potential new clients, Partners and Agents.
Dr. Finkelson’s trip comes at a crucial time for Chinese immigration to the United States. Chinese investors numbering in the tens of thousands have hopes of immigrating, especially through the USCIS EB-5 Investment Visa program. The program, which currently opens the door to permanent resident status for foreign nationals willing to invest a minimum of $500,000 in government-approved job creation projects, has become extraordinarily popular among Chinese investors.
The program, however, must be renewed by Congress before the end of September, else it will sunset, leaving the U.S. without its only government-sponsored, non-taxpayer funded job creation program.
While most sources do not expect the program to be suspended, the persistent push for, and the pervasive reach of, immigration reform seem almost certain to have significant impact on the EB-5 program in particular. One of the changes being proposed to Congress is increasing the EB-5 visa availability limits to accommodate the influx of legal, high-net worth immigrants whose residency is ultimately based upon job creation for American citizens, making this trip perhaps the most important of this year.
