Letter: Good Government

Letter: Good Government

I’m still calling for clean and good government. In the Lord’s Prayer, our explanation of “give us this day our daily bread” includes good government.

Even with the chagrin — to most — of EB-5 and Gear Up, and one of the most corrupt states in the nation, the people of South Dakota couldn’t make it over the top to stop putting square pegs into round holes. We will still have to be patient and wait for another election. But we’re not going away!

Sutton, Bjorkman and Seiler stood head and shoulders above the competition and South Dakota wasted those talents. But we count on their return.

Kristi Noem ran a horrible campaign and needed the unholy big guns to come in and drag her across the finish line. She was a disciple of the Top Dog and focused on fear and falsehood. One of the seediest ads was “Neighbors of Billie” and one of the stupidest was “All you need in South Dakota is a gun and a horse.” And that’s the thin record she brings.

When John McCain died, Republicanism died and degenerated into the Trump Cult (TC). Sens. Thune (TC) and Rounds (TC) have been totally spineless regarding the Constitution, the dangers to democracy, voter suppression and dangers posed by the president. They leave as their legacy voting in a justice worse than Bork.

So, pray a lot. Speak up a lot. As President Clinton’s campaign said, “It’s the economy, stupid.” We need to keep saying “It’s good and clean government, stupid.” Let us pray!
