Kingdom comes together to support Burke Mountain

Burke is staying positive in the wake of massive fraud allegations.

In Mid-April, an investigation sent shock waves through the Northeast Kingdom. That's when the Securities and Exchange Commission and the state of Vermont accused Ariel Quiros and Bill Stenger of using their EB-5-funded development projects to allegedly misuse $200 million of investor money.

One of those projects was an expansion at Burke Mountain to add a hotel and conference center.

Now, community members have formed the group Friends of Burke Mountain. Executive Director Olivia Libby appeared on "The :30" to tell us about the group and its goals. Watch the video for more.

The group is holding a party this weekend to benefit Kingdom Kids. It's Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Bear Den at MidBurke. Adults pay $5; children get in free.
