Do I Meet The EB-5 Minimum Investment Requirement?

EB-5, EB-5 Visa, EB-5 Investment

What is the EB-5 minimum investment requirement and do I have the capital to fulfill that requirement?

Here’s what potential EB-5 investors should know about the EB-5 minimum investment requirement.

You may not have even realized you meet the EB-5 minimum investment requirement.

The EB-5 Program requires a foreign national to invest $900,000 in a targeted employment area project or $1,800,000 in a project located in a non-targeted employment area. Targeted employment areas are rural or high-unemployment areas.

The sources of the funds for this $900,000 (or $1,800,000) investment can come from a variety of sources that you may not have even thought about. Many EB-5 investors have multiple sources of income from various sources, the investment capital does not all have to come from a single source to qualify.

A few common sources of  EB-5 funds include:

Sale of a business or real estate assets;

Sale of stock;

Income from a business;

Employment earnings;

Investment dividends;

Divorce and alimony;

One major part of the requirement for the investment capital is that it comes from lawful sources. An EB-5 investor will need to be able to trace the lawful sources of their funds back to their origins for their application. An experienced EB-5 attorney can not only assist an EB-5 investor with their I-526 Immigrant Petition by Alien Investor, but they may also be able to suggest which sources of funds to utilize in their particular investment situation if they have multiple sources of funds.
