A California-based law firm must face allegations that it mishandled Taiwanese and Chinese investors' EB-5 visa applications after a California state appeals court concluded its actions weren’t protected under a statute that guards free speech and petitioning activities.

On Friday a three-judge panel from California’s Second District appeals court overruled a lower judge’s granting of an anti-SLAPP motion filed by Fredrick W. Voigtmann and the Law Office of Fred Voigtmann PC, both accused of breaching their fiduciary duty to the group of foreign citizens.
