Ricco Washburn

My professional career has taken me through International Business representation around the globe.

I have been fortunate to experience the business world from almost every seat imaginable and have continued my learning process through all phases of my career. 

In addition to professional experience, I also have a lifetime of invaluable personal experiences that include direct involvement with many of the areas of law that I now practice for my clients. Consequently, I have also experienced everyday personal life from many perspectives as well.

Why is this important to you as a Ricco Washburn, Esq. Law client?

The answer is simple. Most business people understand their business operations and industry, and individuals are in tune with their daily lives. However, neither businesses nor individuals are fully in tune with or even aware of the legal implications that can impact what they consider most important. 

By the same token, many attorneys are very well versed in the law but are not well versed in business operations or family matters on a personal level. This lack of firsthand personal knowledge could make them less effective as advocates for their clients. My diverse background places me in the uncommon and unique position of understanding both the business, personal and legal perspectives of many issues.

BIO

Mr. Washburn graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business and received his Juris Doctorate degree from Arizona Summit Law School in 2015. Before earning his JD, Ricco was effective in his time in Shenzhen, China for the Long’an Law Firm in its e-commerce litigation department. 

Since graduation, Mr. Washburn has practiced law exclusively in Florida.  During this time Mr. Washburn rose to the position of Junior Partner in a well-respected plaintiff insurance firm in Fort Lauderdale.  Mr. Washburn has represented a distinct list of popular Florida companies such as Best in Broward Movers, and well known individuals who play in the National Basketball Association (Ricco is also a Licensed Basketball Agent with the NBA and FIBA).   

Utilizing the legal and practical knowledge gained as a primarily civil plaintiff attorney, Mr. Washburn has a unique insight of how to negotiate, evaluate, and value claims, as well as how complex matters are litigated by plaintiff attorneys.  Mr. Washburn utilizes his insight to ensure his clients are treated fairly and that they receive full compensation for their damages. 

Ricco’s practice focuses on proceedings in the Florida District Court and the Florida Supreme Court arising under the Florida Corporation Law, including litigation involving e-commerce with Amazon, Alibaba, EBay, and the like. He also represents national and regional clients in complex business disputes pending in the Florida District Court and the Middle and Southern District of Florida United States District Courts.

Ricco has substantial experience working on a variety of cases involving important issues of Florida law, including property insurance litigation, derivative litigation, corporate governance disputes, demands for books and records, dissolution proceedings, and other complex commercial disputes. Ricco also regularly advises corporate boards of directors and special committees, including demand review committees. Ricco is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel. Ricco continues to obtain licenses to gain more knowledge for his clients, in 2019 Ricco passed the Series 7 Stockbrokers Exam.
