Mr. Siegel's professional career spans thirty-five years. He first served in the public sector for six years as an assistant attorney general and as an assistant district attorney in Massachusetts. He then entered the private sector as an attorney in Boston, specializing in litigation and real estate law, representing large real estate companies and developers in acquisitions, dispositions, and development. Also, he served for eight years as general counsel at The Hamilton Company, a major Boston real estate owner and developer.
In 1997, he moved to Connecticut to join Konover Properties, now the The Simon Konover Company, a real estate firm with a large portfolio of hotels, office buildings, retail centers and apartment communities. Working directly for Simon Konover, the founder and president, Mr. Siegel served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for nearly a decade. In charge of the company and its operating units, including its management divisions and its development and construction units, Mr. Siegel gained extensive hands-on experience in a myriad of asset classes and business operations. Under his direction, the company significantly expanded its portfolio through numerous development projects and acquisitions, and Mr. Siegel was instrumental in the underwriting, structuring and financing of these deals.
Since leaving Konover in 2007, Mr. Siegel was associated with Corridor Ventures, a student housing company in Avon, CT, where with his partners he sourced, underwrote, capitalized and closed approximately $70MM of student housing properties in the eastern United States. Most recently, he worked with Propark Real Estate Advisors, LLC, an affiliate of Propark America, a national parking company headquartered in Hartford, CT. At Propark, he played a key role in the underwriting, permitting, construction and capitalization of the country’s first “green” parking project, a 4,200 car LEED Gold facility called Canopy Airport Parking, serving Denver International Airport, that opened for business in November 2010. Mr. Siegel is a partner in this $20MM project, which is performing well.
Mr. Siegel now serves as the principal of North Shore Ventures, LLC, consulting and working with real estate owners and investors, combining his extensive operating expertise with his experience underwriting, structuring and capitalizing complex real estate projects. He maintains his affiliation with Propark Real Estate Advisors for deals relating to parking. Mr. Siegel graduated with a BA from University of Rochester and a JD from Boston College Law School and is admitted to practice in Massachusetts. Also, he holds real estate broker licenses in both Massachusetts and Connecticut. Mr. Siegel is a member of the board of directors of Connecticut Innovations, a quasi-governmental state agency that provides equity and debt capital and grants to businesses that will create jobs by locating or expanding in Connecticut, having been appointed in 2012 by the governor. Also, he is a member of the Commission on Disabilities for the Town of West Hartford, CT where he resides with his family and enjoys playing clarinet in local community groups, hiking, and tandem bicycling.
