For more than 25 years, Kevin has applied his international tax planning and business expertise in advising foreign investors making investments in U.S. real estate and business, as well as, U.S. clients operating abroad and investing in foreign real estate. His personal and direct involvement with clients explains why many have continuously sought his assistance since 1983.
FOREIGN CLIENTS INVESTING IN U.S. REAL ESTATE AND BUSINESS
Investments into the U.S. requiring his expertise range from high-end second home and condominiums to large commercial office projects throughout the U.S. Integral to international tax planning for such investments, Kevin also provides his clients with legal services for acquiring, selling, financing, developing and constructing their real estate projects.
His services include advising on Income, Gift and Estate Tax Treaty issues, compliance with IRS requirements for sale and tax-free reorganization of real estate holdings, FIRPTA withholding on real estate sales, 1031 tax-deferred exchanges, use of portfolio tax-exempt financing, formation of foreign corporations, partnerships and trusts, licensing of intellectual property and sales of goods into the U.S.
His foreign clients investing in the U.S. are resident throughout the globe, including Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Dubai, Doha, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Hong Kong, South Africa, India, Australia and Korea.
INTERNATIONAL WEALTH PRESERVATION AND ESTATE PLANNING
Kevin works with high net-worth individuals who are non-residents of the U.S. to develop effective wealth preservation and estate planning strategies and in helping his clients realize their most important personal ambitions. Using offshore trusts, life insurance trusts, private foundations, private trust companies, sharia’h compliant trusts, as well as, family offices and companies, Kevin takes a direct and intimate involvement in understanding his client’s financial objectives and generational intentions for wealth and family business participation and continuity.
U.S. CLIENTS OPERATING ABROAD AND INVESTING IN FOREIGN REAL ESTATE
Kevin provides tax planning assistance to U.S. companies operating abroad, including strategic use of the foreign tax credit, accessing benefits of bi-lateral income tax treaties, deferring U.S. taxation on foreign operations, structuring foreign operations, transferring employees abroad to take advantage of the Sec. 911 income exclusion and Social Security Totalization Agreements with foreign countries, transfer pricing of goods and services with related companies, and compliance with IRS requirements and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act issues.
A significant portion of Kevin’s practice also involves assisting U.S. persons purchasing vacation and retirement homes and U.S. companies developing real estate projects in Latin and South America. He advises these clients on establishing tax-efficient structures for foreign real estate investments and projects, as well as, on related IRS reporting requirements for U.S persons owning foreign corporations, foreign trusts, and foreign bank accounts. His service also includes coordinating with foreign tax advisors to assure that the U.S. client obtains complete U.S. and foreign tax advice for their investments and projects.

Kevin is a frequent speaker before international and national legal, accounting and real estate groups both in the U.S. and abroad, such as, the National Association of Realtors, FIABCI, Chamber of the Americas, and various Certified Property Specialist chapters.
He is the author of a number of articles regarding international income tax and estate planning for investment in U.S. and foreign real estate, including BNA Tax Management, Estates, Gifts and Trusts Journal, Worlds Apart: Advising Mexican and Middle East Clients Investing in U.S. Real Estate and National Association of Realtors, CIPS, Global Perspectives in Real Estate, Real Estate Legalities in Panama.
He is a member of the District of Columbia, Virginia and Colorado bars, the US Tax Court, American Bar Association, Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP), various state and federal courts, FIABCI, Asian Real Estate Association of America, Chamber of the Americas, and the Vail, CO Association of Realtors
EDUCATION
Kevin earned his undergraduate and law degree from George Mason University in Virginia (BA, JD), his Certified Public Accountant certificate from the District of Columbia and his Masters in International Tax Law (LLM) from St. Thomas University in Miami, FL.
