Trisha Roy is Founder and Principal Broker of Open Spaces International, a Gainesville, FL based International Real Estate Brokerage. She serves as economic developement consultant and real estate investment consultant for businesses interested in investing in the growing Florida economy.
BIO
Trisha Roy is a Broker, Realtor®, a Certified International Property Specialist(CIPS)– a coveted NAR designation. Trisha is also Graduate, Realtor Institute (GRI) and is Certified “At Home With Diversity” (AHWD). Trisha is a diversity and sustainability specialist, and represents a broad spectrum understanding of issues of diversity and about minority groups. Trisha works with the local Chambers of Commerce to help promote diversity and economic growth in the area. In 2016, Trisha led a trade mission to India to liaison with Indian business houses which may be interested in opening business operations in Gainesville. Her mission was partially sponsored by the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the Chamber’s International Council.
Trisha is Chair for the Realtors’ Global Council in Gainesville for the years 2016-2018, and she serves on the Alachua County Code Enforcement Board.
In July of 2016, Trisha founded “Open Spaces International, which may be Alachua county’s first international real estate brokerage, with offices in Newberry. Trisha is a real estate educator and a licensed instructor, and has just been appointed by the President of National Association of Realtors to serve on the international CIPS Advisory Board, as an educator in international real estate.
In her academic background, Trisha holds two Masters degrees, the first in Ecology & Environment, from the Indian Institute of Ecology & Environment, and her research work on Behavioral Ecology of Red Pandas in the Himalayan foothills received a Distinction. Sustainable Development, juxtaposed against the real challenges of wild habitat encroachment formed much of her work in India. She also holds a second Masters Degree in Management, from Kettering University, and her research in that effort explored how sustainability and planning could have impacted the story of Flint, MI.
Open Spaces International, (or OSI) collaborates with a growing and robust network of international agents across the world. As a result of these collaborations, OSI brings interaction between foreign buyers and investors and the local economy. Gainesville and her identity as an international melting pot is a potential draw for many investors who will find the opportunity to grow with this growing city. Trisha is committed to driving these relationships along with growing the business reach of OSI across the world.
She is a published author, with many publications in newspapers, magazines, both as a poet and a writer on topics of ecological and environmental interest, on leadership theories, as well as one book. She is working on her second book, when time permits.
On a personal level, Trisha is an avid nature-photographer, dancer, and practices and learns karate along with her two boys, who are both black belts. In her spare time, Trisha enjoys writing, hiking on Florida’s many trails, and nature photography. Trisha volunteers on many local causes and committees, including as a voluntary “mammal keeper” at the Jacksonville Zoo, utilizing old skills learned during her research days in India’s zoos.
