Kelly Denise Wenell

Prior to forming Wenell LLC, I collected a variety of experiences related to international, immigration, and family law services. Before law school, I worked in the international tax department of the big four accounting firm, KPMG LLP. At KPMG, I assisted multinational corporations with their tax filing and planning needs. After KPMG LLP, I took two temporary internships--at the U.S. Department of State. and Jewish Vocational Services of Kansas City At the Department of State, I worked in the U.S. Embassy in Rabat, Morocco. While there, I was able to see first-hand the process of foreigners seeking to come to the United States on various visas. While at the Jewish Vocational Services of Kansas City, I assisted their many refugee clients from among others Cuba, Iraq, Burma, Somalia and Congo in adapting to life in Kansas City (such as assisting clients learn how to ride the metro bus, apply for public benefits, and enroll their children in school). Working with those families was a worthwhile experience that cemented my interest in becoming an immigration and family law attorney.
 
During law school, I received the Dean's Service Award for my countless hours volunteering in legal aids including at Interfaith Legal Services for Immigrants (former board member), Volunteer Lawyers & Accountants for the Arts, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), Gateway Legal Services, and the Child and Family Defense Clinic.  A native of Warrensburg, Missouri, I now call the Holly Hills St. Louis neighborhood my home and Benton Park West my firm's location. As such, I have a good understanding of the needs of both urban and rural clients in Missouri.
