Daniel P. McCarthy is recognized for his expertise in immigration law and civil trial law. He has over fifteen years experience in handling a broad range of complex immigration matters for clients, and more than twenty-five years experience in civil litigation. His immigration law experience includes counseling scholars, professional, and other client on matters relating to applications for visas and permanent residency. He has an outstanding record of success in developing strategies for clients in obtaining visas.
Dan has served as the designated school official at the University of Texas at San Antonio for the processing of International Student visa applications. He served as the responsible officer to represent UTSA under the Exchange Visitor Program obtained permanent residency for international scholars.
Dan is Board certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He has substantial experience resolving civil claims for clients involving I-9 worksite enforcement actions, personal injury, Texas Deceptive Trade Practices, contracts, and real estate.
Dan is admitted to practice before all Texas State Courts and the United Stated District Court for the Western District of Texas. Dan is a member of the State Bar of Texas and a Sustaining Member of the College of the State Bar of Texas. He belongs to the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the National Association of International Educators (NAFTA) and the San Antonio Bar Association (Immigration Section).
Dan holds a Jurist Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law (1984) and a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Houston (1981). He has studied international law at Cambridge University, England.
