Michael S. Gordon has a broad range of commercial litigation experience and regularly represents clients in state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration and mediation proceedings, in New York, New Jersey and throughout the United States. Michael has substantial experience in real estate and secured lending litigation, representing developers, management and hospitality companies, banks and private equity funds. Michael also has extensive experience handling all types of business disputes, including breach of contract, business torts, fiduciary litigation, partnership and corporate shareholder disputes, intellectual property, insurance coverage, securities and common law fraud. In addition, he regularly provides strategic counseling to his clients, assisting them in devising creative solutions either to avoid litigation or to facilitate the settlement of protracted lawsuits.
Michael devotes a portion of his practice to lender liability litigation and real estate litigation. He has successfully represented lenders and private equity funds to enforce guarantees of loans, defended against breach of contracts allegations and represented lenders and developers in real estate disputes with values ranging from $50 million to $150 million.
For four years, Michael served as co-hiring partner for associates in Katten’s New York office and co-head of the New York office’s hiring committee. He also serves on the mediation panel for the US District Court, Southern District of New York Mediation Program.
