Does Jackley show a conservative ‘bias’?

Attorney General and gubernatorial hopeful Marty Jackley speaks during an interview at the Argus Leader in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.

A lawyer is supposed to be unbiased when doing their investigations. When Marty Jackley investigated the EB-5 and GEARUP programs, which were run by the top Republicans in the state, he took years to find any mistakes or make any indictments. The media kept pressing for an answer so he finally did something. But when a Democrat running for mayor noticed that her online accounts were hacked for information, within two days he cleared everybody of stealing her money, to distract attention from her information being stolen, when there had been absolutely no accusation of money being stolen. He seems to have a partisan bias of keeping Republicans clear in his investigations.

But now we find out who his friends are. They are the conservative sheriffs, who in the past chose my their own budgeting process and their own priorities to leave rape kits on the shelf an average of four years so they would not find out who the serial rapists in the state were. Marty Jackley came to the rescue and went to the legislature to get the sheriffs money to process the rape kits. Now, do those conservative sheriffs like him because he showed them that they should investigate rapes, or do they like him because he went to the legislature to get them more money? As Attorney General he could have just told them that he wanted to know if the same people were doing all the raping and to process the rape kits as a priority.
