The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has added attorneys Shaoul Aslan and Matthew Virkstis to the Business Immigration & Compliance Practice in its Northern Virginia office.

Before joining the firm, they were most recently at Squire Patton Boggs and Cartwright & Associates, respectively.

Aslan focuses his practice on a wide range of immigration and nationality matters, representing corporate clients and individuals before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (formerly Immigration and Naturalization Service), the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Department of Labor. Specifically, he counsels corporate clients and family companies on immigration matters pertaining to international transfer of personnel and other immigration-related issues. He also advises individuals on both nonimmigrant and immigrant visa options, as well as citizenship and retention or relinquishment of permanent residency status.

Virkstis, who had previously worked as senior counsel for the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, now focuses his practice on business immigration laws and regulations affecting U.S. and foreign companies, as well as related policy, political, and oversight issues. He is experienced in advising trade associations and development companies on the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program and issues related to adjudication of immigration petitions seeking approval to obtain financing for major infrastructure projects.

Aslan received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, his M.Sc. from the London School of Economics, and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Queens College. Virkstis received his J.D., cum laude, from Vermont Law School, where he was a member of the Vermont Law Review and his B.A., with honors, from the University of Vermont.
