I have the great good fortune of loving my work – who wouldn’t like to interact with fascinating people from across the globe in multiple languages? Not to mention the stimulating mix of business immigration & international law, business & global entrepreneurship, which provide the opportunity, too, of learning in great detail about a different kind of business or industry in every case.

Primarily, I help foreign businesses & investors who are entering the U.S. market by assessing how the U.S. business should be set up, what legal issues must be addressed by the new U.S. business before it commences doing business, & then by obtaining work visas and/or green cards for the business’s investors, executives, managers, & key employees.

By learning about the underlying business of my clients, I focus on ensuring that the U.S. employer will be in the best position possible to use the skills & experience of foreign national employees.

Born & raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, I obtained my B.Proc. law degree from the University of Johannesburg in 1993, a B.A. (Honors) Degree in Latin & then a Master’s Degree (cum laude) in Latin in 1995 & 1998, respectively, also from UJ.

I moved to the U.S. in October 1997 & in 2003, I obtained my J.D. law degree, at which time I entered the practice of law in Atlanta, Georgia.

In January 2008, I established my own practice, The Castel Law Firm. In October 2010, I relocated to Austin, Texas, a wonderful, quirky city.

I am very passionate about international affairs, geopolitics, translating Latin, tap dancing, & the need for the advancement of women’s rights internationally.

In my spare time, I read voraciously.
